While talking about holiday season, teacher mentioned about Christmas
celebrations to Sakalyans. On asking about events associated with X mas
children talked about X mas tree, reindeer, Santa, gifts, snow man etc. The
most they wanted to do was baking cake in School. Upholding the PBL
pedagogy approach (project based learning), the teacher planned Project
Baking on the day prior to winter vacation.
Children were dressed in red for the day. They carefully wore apron before the
baking started.
Together they organised the ingredients- Butter, Brown Eggs, organic sugar powder, Organic Flour, Vanilla Essence , Baking powder and mixed powdered sugar and butter in a big steel bowl.

Yes, the little one needed ma’am’s help.
Whisked egg white in a bowl. They took turn in mixing the ingredients. Once the batter was smooth, added flour, baking powder and vanilla essence.
Prepared cup linings.
Put cake batter into the cups.
Put it in the tray and placed it in preheated oven.
Yay the cake is ready in 20 mins.
When children enjoyed baking what motivated the teacher was the immense unconventional learning during the process. They learnt about the names of ingredients, names of utensils used, collaborating and cooperating with other children and much more. The sense of satisfaction and feeling of exhilaration, children displayed while eating the cake they prepared from scratch was priceless.
