National Science Day at Sakalya

National science Day was celebrated at Sakalya on 28 February 2023. K1 and K2 children were introduced to the genesis of National Science Day during the morning circle- Gurukul wisdom circle as we call it. National Science Day is celebrated every year in India on 28 February to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by the Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. He discovered the Raman Effect on 28 February 1928 and for this discovery, he was honoured with the Nobel Prize in Physics subject in 1930. Our children were already introduced to various Nobel laureates during the session during the days dedicated to them, however children were overwhelmed at the fact that Sir CV Raman was the first Indian to receive Nobel Prize.

Post snack all children were given a demonstration on “Lava Lamp”. Science experiments are part of scientific and conceptual understanding part of our curriculum. We found that our children, ranging from the age of 2-6 were very curious to know the reactions in the lava lamp when they saw the amazing colourful dancing bubbles in the lava lamp - the experiment educators chose for National Science Day. This is one experiment stimulated both left and right brain of our children – a truly holistic activity.
