Go through our five days study program and decide for yourself.

Day 1 Prime Areas of Development

Early Childhood Education is at the intersection of many sciences and field of study

Today on Day 1, we will have a look into the prime areas of development in a child’s life. We will see how impactful it is?

Prime Areas of Development

This is an introduction to the understanding of young children’s fundamental characteristics and needs in prime areas of growth, development and learning. A newborn child’s brain grows rapidly. It produces enormous quantities of neurons and forms a complex network of neural connection in early years. By the age of three years the brain reaches about 90% of its adult age size.

The brain is more sensitive to particular types of learning at different stages of development. They serve as “windows” during which acquisition patterns for particular skills are shaped and particular skills are acquired.

Development is not an automatic process, however. It depends on each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationship and enabling environments

What Prime areas?

Personal, social and emotional development

This area of development and learning brings many challenges and struggles with it, as it is complex and far-ranging. Helping children to develop personally, socially and emotionally has a crucial impact on their later well-being, mental health, and learning achievements. The benefits are lifelong.

Communication and Language

About 80 percent of learning in Early Years is verbal and hence listening skill attention and concentration are crucial. Every experience a child has will extend their understanding if adults are there sharing the experience and helping them.

Physical Development

Physical development is about how children gain control of their bodies, how they learn about keeping themselves healthy and active, and how they use equipment and materials successfully and safely

Reflective Questions

How will the understanding on prime areas will help you in becoming an excellent Early Childhood Educator?
