"Blasting Off into Curiosity: Celebrating National Space Day at Sakalya Wisdom Early Years"

On 23 August 2024, Sakalya Wisdom Early Years celebrated the Maiden National Space Day, a day that resonated deeply with the theme, "Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga." This celebration was especially poignant as it celebrated the historic success of India's Chandrayaan-3 mission, marking a new chapter in our nation's space journey. The day was designed to ignite the imaginations of our young learners and introduce them to the wonders of space and astronomy.

The festivities began with a morning circle discussion, where children learned about India's space programs and the broader mysteries of the universe. This interactive session set the tone for the day, sparking curiosity and excitement among the little ones. Following this, the enchanting story "Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me" by Eric Carle was shared, weaving a narrative that combined both the wonder of space and the warmth of familial love.

To bring the theme to life, the children engaged in a hands-on craft activity where they created rockets using origami paper. But the fun didn't stop there—their paper rockets were transformed into working models using straws, allowing the children to see their creations take flight, much like India's own space endeavours.

This celebration not only honoured India's achievements in space exploration but also planted the seeds of curiosity and exploration in our young learners. Through stories, discussions, and creative activities, our children took their first steps into the vast and fascinating world of space.
